Nursing Services The Sweetwood program promotes health maintenance and wellness to support an independent lifestyle and prevent disease. Health assessment, consultation, counseling and coordination of health services are provided daily by our registered nurses.
If needs change, the extra support and assistance you may require will be provided within the privacy and comfort of your home. These services are available at any hour of the day or night within the retirement community from our on-site health aides, under the auspices of Sweetwood's Director of Health Services. Should more extensive medical services be required, Sweet Brook Transitional Care & Living Centers is available on campus.
While the vast majority of Sweetwood residents never need long-term care, the process of choosing a continuing care retirement community should include a thorough assessment of its nursing care center and the services it has to offer.
Sweet Brook Transitional Care & Living Centers, adjacent to Sweetwood, is a 184-bed Medicare-approved facility founded in 1948 and accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). Many standards of practice and care protocols developed at Sweet Brook have been adopted statewide. In addition to traditional programs needed in the care of its residents, Sweet Brook long ago recognized the value of more focused offerings for residents with special needs. Such programs include specialized dementia care, subacute physical, occupational, and speech rehabilitation, skilled nursing, pain management, enteral feeding and infusion therapy.
Residents of Sweetwood can be assured that they have access to the highest quality health care in the region. Northern Berkshire Healthcare provides a complete continuum of acute, inpatient, emergency rehabilitative, behavioral, visiting nurse and hospice services, as well as long-term care services.
